How to get there:
Less than an hour from Mancora at km 1104 of the northern Panamericana highway you can get to the accesses. A dirt track 10 km long takes to the entrance on your way you will have to carry out some procedures, pay special attention when at km 9 a road joins the main road and has a signpost pointing to Lobitos but isn`t very visible. Turn there and go straight ahead follow the signpost that say`s playa you must turn to the left about 50 meters before the barrier. You can also take a plane from Lima to Piura (LAN). Once you are in Piura, you can take a bus (EPPO) from Piura to Talara and then a shuttle from Talara to Lobitos. There is also a plane (StarPeru) that flights from Lima to Talara.
The waves:
The wave reaches 2 meters (more than 6 ft.) and has a very long ride. The shape is perfect and in a good conditions some barrels appears. At first they break over some rocks that are scattered around the line of the point, later the waves get thicker and then as they enter the shore section they get faster and more walled up. It is an easy wave ideal for riding long sections, nice and relaxed and great for longboards. It is different from the other northern waves because it is ideal for practicing maneuvers or learning to ride and it is much less dangerous. Nearby Lobitos you have many other surf spot like Piscinas and El Hueco.
Where to stay:
I strongly recommend you to stay at La Casa de Jose Antonio (http://lacasadejoseantonio.com/). Jose Antonio and Nina have been living in Lobitos for few years and they know the best way to treat their hosts. It is a very nice place; you can rent a room at the house or just a bed.
Where to eat:
I recommend you to eat a “Sabor Peruano de Cora”. She cooks very good dishes with local taste.
