CERRO AZUL

Cerro Azul is an ancient fishing village. It is a very cozy place and we recommend you to visit for a few days.

How to get there:
You have to take the Panamaricana highway south. The village is at the 132 km, you will see the signs indicating the place. Turn right into the village and cross the village towards the sea. Then turn left and go to the south of the quay. From there you will see the point. It start in the rocks, some people says it has the shape of an eagle. That is the starting point of the lefthander breaks. This wave is pretty famous because it is quoted in The Beach Boys song, Surfing´ Safari.

The waves:
It is a perfect left point break. It starts at the rocks and could go over the the end of the quay with approximately 300 meters of riding. It recommended for low tide conditions. It an ideal wave for longboarders. When it receives a big swell it can start before the rocks and connect after the quay. It can reach the 2 meters (6 to 7 feets).

On the right side of the quay, sometimes you can enjoy a right tubular wave. Is shorter and not that consistent.

Cerro Azul is recommended during the winter (May-Oct) when it receives South and South West swell. We recommend surfboard of 6´to 6´7” or longboards.

It has sand bottom and some rock on the beach.

Where to stay:
If you want to stay in Cerro Azul, we recommend you a good lodging a restaurant called Don Satu, it is located in front of the beach. There are very good places to eat around the city. Do not leave Cerro Azul before trying the local ceviche.

You can also visit Cerro Azul for a day, if you decide to stay somewhere else near Lima or Punta Hermosa. Cerro Azul is only 1 hour and a half from Lima.
